Blog Tour: The Duke's Quandary by Callie Hutton; Interview + Giveaway

The Duke's Quandary
Author: Callie Hutton
Release Date: 10 March 2014
Publisher: Entangled, Scandalous

London 1814...

Drake, Duke of Manchester is searching the Marriage Mart for a perfect bride. He wants a woman who is poised, sophisticated, and worthy of the title Duchess. But most of all, he wants a woman who does not want the useless emotion of love.

Socially awkward Miss Penelope Clayton isn't meant for marriage. A serious botanist, she has no desire to wed, so being forced by her guardian to participate in the Season to find a husband is torture. She'll never fit in with the ton, especially if they discover she's been pretending to be a man within the scientific community.

As Drake's family makes over Penelope, turning her from naive bluestocking to enchanting debutante, he is put upon to introduce her to society and eligible bachelors. Despite dance lessons and new gowns, Penelope is the opposite of poised and sophisticated as she stumbles from one mishap to the next. Why then, does he find it so hard to resist her?

Author Interview

Hi Callie, welcome to Rookie Romance!

Share 4 fun facts about yourself!
  • I’m expecting twin grandbabies in September
  • I drive my husband crazy because I change my eating habits every couple of weeks. Our pantry is full of food that I buy, then decide later another eating plan is better.
  • My Christmas tree is still up in my living room
  • My oldest son is 20 years older than my younger son. Yes, I know.
If The Duke’s Quandary was made into a movie, who would you cast as Drake and Penelope?
I would love to see Colin Firth for Drake and Jennifer Garner for Penelope.

Why do you think bluestockings make such appealing heroines?
Probably because they are out of the mainstream of Society. That is one reason I enjoy writing historicals. There are so many rules to break. And my heroines are usually different in some way, which makes for an interesting story. I mean, really, who wants to read about a heroine who does everything right?

What’s your favourite way to just relax and unwind, any hobbies?
Reading. I read about 250 books a year. I read so fast if someone asks me what I’m reading, I have to flip to the cover to remember.

Can you share a little bit about what you’re working on at the moment?
Right now I’m working on The Lady’s Disgrace, which is Abigail’s story from the Marriage Mart Mayhem series. After her book, I’ll be working on Marion’s story, The Baron’s Homecoming. They will both be released later this year. Next year the last three sisters in the Manchester family will have their stories. Two of them will be set in Scotland.

Thanks for visiting!

About the Author

Callie Hutton always knew those stories she made up in her head would be written down one day. There was nowhere else for them to go. After years of writing articles and interviews for magazines and company newsletters, she decided to tackle writing a book. That was back in 2010. Now with twelve books under her belt, and seven more contracted, the relief at having somewhere to tell those stories is wonderful. She lives in Oklahoma with her husband, adult children and three dogs.
