Throwback Thursday: Historical Romance Edition #6

Throwback Thursday: Historical Romance Edition is a meme hosted by the fabulous Buried Under Romance and Love Saves the World.

Historical romance is my favourite genre, so I'm excited to participate!

What Is Throwback Thursday?
Traditionally, Throwback Thursday celebrates nostalgia, asking participants to post a personal photo or image from their past--usually from 5 to 10 years ago. There are a lot of book blogs that also do a book related Throwback Thursday.

Here Are The Rules:
1. It must be posted on a Thursday.
2. It must be a historical romance novel published before October 3, 2008

A Gentleman by Any Other Name (Romney Marsh #1)
Author: Kasey Michaels
Publisher: Harlequin
Release Date: 1 March 2006

Old enough to remember his beginning, Chance Becket has spent all of his thirty years trying to forget, hiding his unsavory youth behind a society marriage and a prestigious position with the War Office. But now the widower must confront his past and return to the windswept coast of Romney Marsh . . . where the ghosts of his childhood still linger.

Newly hired governess Julia Carruthers is delighted to be in charge of Chance's young daughter and eager to escape the confines of London. Yet the excitement of the journey to her employer's strange home is nothing compared to the attraction between them. And when Julia sees something she should not, she wonders if Chance's sudden intentions are prompted by ungentlemanly desires or his need to protect his family's secrets.

It took me so long to pick a book this week! I was trying to think of titles I'd read that were published before 2008 and that weren't Julia Quinn or Lisa Kleypas, and it was hard.
But I finally settled on A Gentleman by Any Other Name by  Kasey Michaels. I really enjoyed this whole series, and this is the first book in the Romney Marsh series.
It has a really intriguing back story. Ainsley Becket is the patriarch of the Becket family, and a former privateer. His children are adopted, except for the youngest, Cassandra, who is his biological daughter. Each of his children have their own story, and there's a villain who presents a dangerous mystery that unravels through the series.
It's got everything you need for an interesting series!
