So, Cassie and Josh's story continues in Fast Forward, and we get to have questions answered and see what the future has in store for them. After reconciling at the end of No Reverse, Josh and Cassie are determined to make the most of their second chance and fight to adopt their son, Lucas. But this journey is not going to be an easy one for either of them.

In the first book, I was firmly on Cassie's team and rooted for her throughout. And whilst I was still rooting for her-truly she deserved a happy ever after- I couldn't help but find her a bit annoying in this book. She is rife with insecurities about herself and her relationship with Josh and these can make her push Josh away when that's the last thing she should be doing. Overall though, I really admired Cassie's determination to do whatever it took to finally have Lucas back- even if it meant she had to give up her own dreams. She deserves to finally get to be a mother to her son, and find a peace and happiness that's long been missing from her life.

Ah, Josh. I felt like, as a reader, I connected more with Josh in this book. The chapters alternate between being in Cassie and Josh's POV, so it was great to really understand what Josh was thinking and feeling. He really has taken on the weight of the world in this book. He's trying to adopt his son, fix his relationship with Cassie, deal with his own fears and embark on his political career. Through it all, his love for Cassie and Lucas is what keeps him going. He wants nothing more than for Cassie to rely on him and to be able to make everything right for them.

Cassie and Josh's relationship had a realism about it which was refreshing, as they navigated around their insecurities and issues. They don't have an easy time of it, and they rarely get to enjoy being back together. But their love is their backbone of strength in this story, through the good and bad.
Saying that, although they did communicate fairly well, there were plenty of times I wanted to shake some sense into the pair of them. They spend a lot of time arguing and chasing around the same issues. They both let their worries take over and cause unnecessary pain.

At the heart of this story is the struggle of Cassie and Josh to reclaim their relationship and adopt their own son. It's not an easy journey, but it's one worth taking. Even if there is obstacle, after obstacle placed in their path.

Again, I really enjoyed the writing from Marion Croslydon. She has an emotive style that takes you to the heart of the story and keeps you there. Whilst I didn't love this sequel as much as I did the first book in the series, I definitely enjoyed it and am looking forward to reading the rest of the series. Especially Sam Blackhawk's story because that man is smoking hot. I'd definitely recommend this to lovers of second chance romances!

*I received a review copy as part of the blog tour, for my honest review. Thank you!
