Kiss Me In Paris
Author: Kimberly Kinrade & Dmytry Karpov
Publisher: Daring Books
Release Date: 25 June 2013
No one knows my secret. Ever since high school, ever since I started living in fear, no one has known the true me. But then I met him, and I couldn't hide anymore
He became my hero, saving me from the villain of my past. He became my friend, his smile a blanket of warmth. And he scared me. Because he, this beautiful man, he might become more. Then he'd see the real me, and I couldn't let that happen.
My name is Winter, and what I desire most I can't have.
Flashes of the night I was drugged rush back to me. His strong arms carrying me through the streets of Paris. The feel of his heart beating as my head rested against his chest. The soft press of his lips against my forehead when he thought I was asleep.
Oh shit. I'm falling for the cowboy. Cade.
But we can't be anything more. He has his own secrets. His own darkness he keeps hidden, like the letter he keeps with him everywhere he goes.
The letter he refuses to open.
So, I'm pretty sure the authors were purposely trying to break my heart! I loved this, and I'm so darned happy I got the chance to read it.
Winter has a large and loving family, but she hides a dark and tragic secret from everyone, shutting herself away emotionally. She struggles to pursue her dream of becoming a successful romance writer, and what better place than Paris to find some inspiration. Winter is a heartbreaking heroine. She has so many different layers to her, she can appear as an 'ice queen' to some people, but she's actually warm and caring. She just tries to protect herself from pain.
Cade was a devastating hero and the perfect match for Winter. He might look like a rough and tumble cowboy *drools*, but he has such a beautiful soul. I loved how passionate he was about architecture as well, it was just another aspect of him that swept both Winter and I off our feet! He's got plenty of his own demons, and struggles with the guilt he feels over leaving his family to pursue his own dreams.
Winter and Cade become close friends when they attend a college summer program in Paris, both of them escaping their pasts. Neither of them are looking for anything more, but their attraction grows stronger and more irresistable. Soon, they have a compelling and ardent love that will face some more tests before they can find their HEA.
It was so beautifully written, and had a poetic quality that had me constantly highlighting quotes on my kindle."She opened herself to him, and, in that moment, she opened herself to the world. Let it hurt her. Let it burn her veins, boil her blood and scorch her heart. For where there could be pain, there could be pleasure and love. She would be cold no longer. She would melt the hearts of others, and in turn, they would melt hers. She would feel the full spectrum of emotions and cry. She would be human. And she would be happy."
It wasn't just wonderfully written with heart wrenching emotion, it also felt real and there was humour spread throughout as well. I seriously couldn't stop grinning and the food poisoning scene had me laughing so hard I was crying, it was just hilarious.
For a book to have me crying in happiness, heartbreak and laughter at different times- very impressive!
I can't wait to read the rest of the Deveaux sisters' stories. If they're only half as good as this, I'll still be pretty happy! Winter and Cade were perfect together, and just incredibly sweet. I just felt so touched by their love, I couldn't recommend this more!
*I received a review copy from the authors, for my honest review. Thank you!
